چکیده

In this chapter, we will draw attention to the possibility of viral encephalitis caused by a common pathogen: dengue. To end, it includes necessary knowledge diagnosis and therapeutic management, such as general notions infections in central nervous system; encephalitis—diagnostic investigation; arboviruses their relevance; dengue an endemic disease; diagnostic methods treatment; its possible clinical presentations complications, among them, encephalitis.

Chimeric Japanese encephalitis virus/dengue 2 virus infectious clone: biological properties, immunogenicity and protection against dengue encephalitis in mice.

A molecular clone of Japanese encephalitis virus (JE virus) was derived from the JE virus Nakayama strain and used to produce infectious JE virus in cell culture. The engineered JE virus resembled the parental JE virus in cell-culture properties and was related closely to other JE virus strains based on nucleotide sequence analysis. The JE virus clone was used as a genetic background for constr...

Dengue Encephalitis.

Dengue infection accompanied by unusual complications and manifestations has been described before. Here we report a case of dengue encephalitis who was IgM positive for dengue serology and had presented to us with only motor weakness after an acute febrile episode. Dengue presenting as encephalitis is in itself a very rare feature and that too, pure motor weakness has hardly ever been reported...

Microglia retard dengue virus-induced acute viral encephalitis

Patients with dengue virus (DENV) infection may also present acute viral encephalitis through an unknown mechanism. Here, we report that encephalitic DENV-infected mice exhibited progressive hunchback posture, limbic seizures, limbic weakness, paralysis, and lethality 7 days post-infection. These symptoms were accompanied by CNS inflammation, neurotoxicity, and blood-brain barrier destruction. ...

Immunization of mice with recombinant vaccinia virus expressing authentic dengue virus nonstructural protein NS1 protects against lethal dengue virus encephalitis.

The protective immunity conferred by a set of recombinant vaccinia viruses containing the entire coding sequence of dengue virus type 4 nonstructural glycoprotein NS1 plus various flanking sequences was evaluated by using a mouse encephalitis model. Mice immunized with recombinant vNS1-NS2a, which expresses authentic NS1, were solidly protected against intracerebral dengue virus challenge. Howe...
